Scouter's Forum Update
We are traveling to Washington DC for the Boy Scouts of America's 100th Anniversary event.
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills Training 4/16-4/18
During this weekend training, participants will learn how to: set up camp, cook, work with wood tools and ropes. In addition, participants will also receive instruction in: first-aid, map and compass skills, hiking/packing techniques, and nature identification. Participants will also help plan a campfire program and worship service. Click for more information or to register.
Owasippe/The Nature Conservancy
As we previously indicated , we want to give our Scouters an opportunity to hear in detail about our potential Memorandum of Understanding with The Nature Conservancy.
An Encouraging Development on Owasippe
At its meeting on Wednesday your Board of Directors began the discussions on entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Nature Conservancy (TNC) which could ultimately lead to one or more conservation organizations purchasing a portion of Owasippe. Click above to read more.
Basic Training Extravaganza Returns March 27, 2010
The Basic Training Extravaganza is a council-wide training day dedicated to conducting required training for adult leaders in all phases of the Scouting family. This is the opportunity to attend leader-specific training to prepare you for your opportunities and responsibilities relating to your leadership position. This single day is packed with an abundance of information for leaders who want to provide the best program possible for their Scouts.
Trainer's EDGE - March 6, 2010
Trainer's EDGE is a one-day course designed to improve teaching and presentation skills. The course should be taken by youth trainers for NYLT, Venturing, Order of Arrow, and Summer Camp Staff (Must be 14 or older), Pack Trainers and Den Chiefs, Current or new District trainers, Council trainers, Commissioners, or ANYONE in Scouting who is interested and wants to learn to communicate ideas better! Construction Industry Memorial Scholarship Program
The Construction Industry Dinner Show is the largest single fundraising event for the benefit of the Chicago Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. Proceeds from this event help bring valuable youth service programs to over 44,000 young people annually. In 2007, the Executive Committee of this event initiated a Scholarship program in memory of 2 key former volunteers. Proceeds raised from this effort go directly to defray college or higher education costs of the selected high school seniors. Please click for more info.

Scout Night with the Loyola Ramblers 2/13/2010
On Saturday February 13th at 7:00pm come out and see the Loyola Ramblers take on the UIC Flames with specially priced Scout Night tickets. Tickets for Scouts are only $2 each and Adult tickets are $6 each. Don't miss the annual battle of the mascots at halftime!! Ticket orders are due by February 10th!

2010 White Sox Scout Day
The 2010 White Sox Scout Day will take place on May 22, 2010. The game will be played at 1:05pm. Upper reserved tickets are $15.00, upper box tickets are $17.00 and lower reserved seats are $32.00 each. The Silver Beaver Committee is pleased to announce the recipients of the Silver Beaver Award for 2009. The Silver Beaver is the highest award the Boy Scouts of America gives for service to youth in a local Council. The Silver Beaver recipients will be honored at the Council Annual Dinner. National Youth Leadership Training - Owasippe 8/10-8/15
NYLT is an exciting, action-packed program designed to provide Scouts with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home Troops and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others. NYLT integrates the best of modern leadership theory with the traditional strengths of the Scouting experience. Through activities, presentations, challenges, discussions, and audio-visual support, NYLT participants will be engaged in a unified approach to leadership that will give them the skill and confidence to lead well.
