Dear River Trails’ Scouters:
Summer is upon us once again! While I know many of you bring your weekly meetings to an end, I implore that you consider summer outings! If you're ambitious like Pack 3901 of UNO Cisneros School in McKinley Park, have biweekly meetings at a nearby park! Every other Sunday, you see them at Chicago's McKinley Park District hosting picnics and playing a variety of games with their Scouts!! It's a perfect time for you to bond with your Scout, the same goes for your Pack's families!
While Boy Scouts are out at Owassipe Scout Reservations in Michigan, don't forget there is Cub Scout Day Camp for your Pack! Please promote this! Even if you or your whole Pack can't attend, don't deny any Cub Scout the opportunity to receive a great experience. Enjoy your summer with as many Scouting activities as possible, believe me that they are out there!
For the Cubmasters and Scoutmaster, take some time to evaluate your Scouting program. What are the successes and opportunities you encountered during the year. Who are those prospect parents that can help you that we should invite to training? What is your budget for the year? This is your planning season, use the time wisely!
Lastly, thank you for all your hard work and dedication. Lou Sandoval, our Council Commissioner, talked about our increase in the diversity of the children we serve; mainly the Latino community. He is talking about US! We are going out there and informing the community about Scouting. We are showing the community the fun they can share as a family! WE! If we continue to work as a team, we continue to grow our team.
Thank you for making Scouting a positive option for the families of our community!
